Marketing and Communications Intern

Twin Cities In Motion is looking for a Marketing and Communications Intern to plan and execute the
region’s premier running events.

The Marketing and Communications Intern is responsible for assisting the marketing and media team. He or she works closely with the Media & Communications Manager and Online Engagement Manager and reports to the Director of Marketing and Media.

Like all intern and staff positions at TCM, the Media & Communications Intern position provides significant event assistance at TCM’s 21 races. This may include specific duties that pertain to marketing and communications as well as general event related responsibilities as assigned.

Job Responsibilities: 
  • Draft, edit, write, and manage e-communications, website copy, social media posts, blog posts, and other projects as assigned. 
  • Manage and assist with managing marketing and media related event projects. 
  • Assist with the tracking of analytics, including TV Eyes Media Impressions Maintain listing of TCM events on public race calendars, websites, and nonprofit listings. 
  • Assist with photo archive. 
  • Provide race event support at TCM’s events, including assisting with photo booths, social media coverage, cheer zones, etc. 
  • Attend regular staff meetings (daytime) and volunteer Marketing and/or CPR meetings (evening hours). 
  • Coordinate special projects and assist in office tasks as directed. 
  • Support office staff and volunteers on various projects 

Job Qualifications:
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 
  • Social media experience (professional experience preferred) 
  • Excellent organizational skills; able to be conscientious and detail oriented 
  • Excellent customer service skills (phone/email/in person) 
  • Able to prioritize and balance multiple projects simultaneously, and work in a fast paced environment 
  • Able to work as part of a team—interacting with both staff and volunteers 
  • An enthusiasm for running and fitness
  • Must be available to work during Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend, October 3–5, 2014 
  • Upper-level undergraduate or graduate student preferred
