Manager of Design and Editorial Services

The Minneapolis Institute of Arts (MIA) is looking for a Manager of Design and Editorial Services to lead the strategy and vision for all print communications:
  • Work as the account manager to effectively craft creative briefs and guide creative staff. 
  • Monitor and interpret cultural and social trends relevant to client business. 
  • Directly manage design and editorial team. 
  • Work with department coordinator to research project input and prepare project specifications.
  • Be responsible for guidance of others in ensuring the visitor relevance of the brand communication strategy. 
Specific Requirements:
  • BS/BA/BFA in Art and Design, business or related fields, or equivalent experience. 
  • Five to ten years of management experience in a creative and cost-oriented environment. 
  • Previous supervisor experience of creative staff's editorial, design, production and project management. 
  • Requires a blend of analytical and intuitive skills. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; comfortable juggling multiple, competing deadlines and priorities. 
  • Superior organizational skills. 
  • Good judgment with the ability to make difficult decisions. 
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills across all levels of the organization, especially when balancing project success with client requirements and goals. 
  • Design or other creative background preferred.
